Black Ops III Gets a Big Patch and Microtransactions

Black Ops III Gets a Big Patch and Microtransactions

Activision and Treyarch have released and detailed a whopping, 3 GB patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops III on the PS4 and Xbox One. I looked over all of the patch notes and I have to say, these guys have been hard at work on this one. Almost every single weapon, perk, and mechanic has been tweaked in some major or minor way. For all of the scorestreak and weapon adjustments you’ll just have to check out the patch notes for yourself here, but I did rummage through and pick out a few of the more noteworthy adjustments:

  • Theater suite added with a highlight reel auto-generated using content from recent games.
  • Quick Join option added to the Multiplayer Main Menu. This allows Players to party-up with any eligible Players on their Friends List who are currently playing Black Ops 3 .
  • Multiplayer Music option in the Audio menu now allows players to preview music samples and change the music heard when playing Multiplayer.
  • XP earn rate increased for Team Deathmatch, Search & Destroy, Capture the Flag, Safeguard, Demolition, and Free-For-All.
  • Increased rate at which Cryptokeys are earned.

The purchase of points that can be used for Black Market items with real world money has also been added. Like Bungie did with silver in Destiny , Treyarch has given all players 200 points free of charge to spend how they like; probably in hopes of whetting our appetite and enticing us to buy more. I’m cool with it, actually. I’ll just spend my free points and go about my business, knowing that cryptokeys are going to be easier to obtain from now on.
