Borderlands 2 Reveals Mechromancer Class At PAX East

Borderlands 2 Reveals Mechromancer Class At PAX East

None

This weekend at PAX East, the guys at Gearbox got the opportunity to hold their own panel where they went over their plans for Borderlands 2.

One of the biggest surprises was the addition of a new class as DLC. The class in question is called the Mechromancer. She is half human, half machine, and she holds power over the robots of the Borderlands world. She comes with a companion called D374-TP (Deathtrap), which suggests that she plays like some sort of summoning class. Instead of combatting the enemy directly, Deathtrap will do much of the work for you while you sit safely behind cover. The Mechromancer will be available as post-launch DLC for the general public, but will be available for free to anyone who pre-orders the game.

Gearbox also announced a host of new character customization options at the panel. You will be able to customize the look of your character’s costume and gear. Additional costumes and costume parts will be earned as you complete missions and challenges.

Gearbox also announced the special edition of Borderlands 2, which will retail at $149.99. The full details of the special edition have not yet been decided, but we do know that the game will come in a large plastic Borderlands-style loot box, and will come with a Marcus Kincaid bobblehead.

Borderlands 2 is slated to hit North American shelves on September 18. In the meantime, stay tuned for our full PAX Show Floor preview.
