Sega Studios Australia is sadly no longer with us. What started out as a satellite branch of Creative Assembly was later acquired and renamed by Sega. The studio worked on a few notable games, including Medieval II: Total War. In 2012 Sega did some serious house cleaning and laid off almost half of the studio’s employees to focus on some kind of obscure deal that never came to fruition; the studio would later shut down completely in 2013.
The last thing the studio wrapped before going under was a remake of the Sega Genesis classic Castle of Illusion . If you have any interest in playing this magical platformer, you need to buy it right now. The game is being delisted later today due to the “expiration of business terms” between Disney and Sega, and you’ll no longer be able to buy it on Steam, Xbox Live, or the PlayStation Network. Anyone who already owns the game will have no problem accessing it in the future, even if you have to re-download it back from your library.
