Call of Duty European Championship Qualifiers Head Off to LA

In early January the Call of Duty Championship was announced, the first Call of Duty tournament on the Xbox One, and it was a chance for professional Call of Duty teams from around the world compete for the “World Champions” title and a share of $1 million / £600,000.

Last weekend, 26 teams from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden and the rest of Europe gathered in London to duke it out and qualify for the Call of Duty Championship event in Los Angeles at the end of the month, as detailed in a recent press release.

The London event saw to over 500 teams compete for a spot in the Call of Duty European Championship, and to qualify to participate in the main event in LA. In the end, 13 teams qualified. One of those teams, TCM Gaming from the UK & ROI, was crowned the Call of Duty European Champions after a tense final match with Epsilon eSports, collecting a €15,000 prize for their efforts. These two teams, along with TEC: Intensity and Team Orbit, made up part of the top four teams to qualify for the Call of Duty Championship in LA. All 13 teams are listed below.

  • SK Gaming – Germany

  • Killerfish – Germany

  • Real Allstars – Benelux (Netherlands)

  • Wizards – Spain

  • Lightning Pandas – Rest of Europe (Russia)

  • Sublime – Italy

  • Reign Mix – Nordic (Sweden)

With the qualifiers and the European Championship now done and dusted, the 13 teams will be hiking off to LA to duke against the world’s best players and to see who comes out on top to earn the “World Champions” title, and share of the $1 million prize pot. Good luck to those participating!
