Joining other game-to-comic conversions such as Gears of War, World of Warcraft, and the recently announced Mirror’s Edge, DC Comics’ Wildstorm brand will be picking up both Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. DC Comics feels that the strategic acquisition of gaming IPs should help to fuel growth in the increasingly overlapping demographic. Many of you in North America may remember Resident Evil: The Official Comic Magazine and Resident Evil: Fire & Ice from the late ‘90s. Both chronicled the events outside of the RE games and were later contradicted by official game canon. Unfortunately, the RE series has never found much success in print, but Wildstorm feels their solid lineup of game conversions and the expanded gaming consciousness of the readership should carry them to success.
