Capcom Working on New, Unannounced Fighting Game

Capcom Working on New, Unannounced Fighting Game

According to a tweet by Yoshinori Ono, the lead designer on Street Fighter IV , Capcom is beginning production on a brand new fighting game. The tweet read, “I want…. no, Capcom wants Game Designer and programmer for New Fighting Game. Its location at Tokyo or Osaka Studio.” Of course, speculation immediately flared up, with many people assuming that Capcom would be working on a Street Fighter IV release for a next-generation platform, but Ono responded that he isn’t even sure if this new IP will be on next-generation consoles. … I supposed it would actually be current-generation at that point. This generation switch is weird.

The biggest question now is, what could it be? Capcom already said that it won’t be developing Street Fighter V until 2018, and their development on Ultra Street Fighter IV has been pretty transparent. Darkstalkers 4 was already confirmed to be non-existent a few months ago after the flop of Darkstalkers Ressurection, and Ryota Nittsuma, designer for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, said that Capcom’s Marvel vs. work is done for the forseseable future.

So what IP are we going to see? A new Rival Schools ? A new Power Stone ? How about a new Star Gladiator ? Maybe Capcom actually will bring back Capom vs. SNK ? Or perhaps they will do a real Capcom All-Stars game after Capcom Fighting Evolution flopped. Who knows, maybe it will be an entirely new IP all together? We will bring you more information on Capcom’s new fighting game project as it becomes available.

What do you think this new IP is? Let us know in the comments.
