Castlevania: Dracula X Coming to Wii U Virtual Console.

Castlevania: Dracula X Coming to Wii U Virtual Console.

Let me tell you the interesting story of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlavania: Dracula X . Castlevania: Rondo of Blood was a “lost” Castlevania game, only released for the TurboGrafx CD and only in Japan. It had awesome graphics, amazing music, animated cutscenes, and it’s the game that lead directly up to the PlayStation release of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night .

Unfortunately, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood was too advanced for the Super Nintendo, which had brought us hits like Castlevania IV . So instead of letting Rondo of Blood go completely unnoticed, Konami remade, or should we say demade, the game for the Super Nintendo, utilizing more primitive graphics, simpler sound, and no anime cutscenes. In addition, Maria, a second playable character in Rondo of Blood , was nowhere to be found in the Super Nintendo remake, called Castlevania: Dracula X . That being said the game’s levels were completely different and it is considered one of the hardest Castlevania s ever to be released.

In 2010, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood came out on the Wii Virtual Console, and many people just left it at that. After all, this was the “definitive” version of the game, right? Well now Nintendo is giving you the chance to play the demake that frustrated so many Castlevania fans back in the day. It will be hitting the Virtual Console on April 23 rd this year in Japan. A western release date has not yet been announced, but it seems very unlikely that it wouldn’t come out here in America.
