CES 2010: Microsoft Announces Game Room

None

Though surveys hinted at the functionality previously, Microsoft confirmed that a classic arcade delivery service called Game Room is coming this spring to Xbox LIVE and Windows LIVE.

During Microsoft’s CES keynote, it was confirmed that 30 classic titles including Centipede and Asteroids Deluxe will be available at launch. Games will cost between 240-400 MS Points and can be played from either your Xbox 360 or Windows-based PC once purchased. If you are looking for some one-shot glory, you can slap down 40 MS Points as if you were standing at a virtual cabinet.

Over the next several years, Microsoft plans on bring approximately 1000 titles to the service. Game Room will offer Avatar support, full HD at 1080p, Voice Chat, online multiplayer, achievements, and cross-platform leaderboard support.
