As a journalist, sometimes I have the tough job of recalling and addressing particularly stressful or tragic events in order to report the facts. Today, regretfully, I have to bring up an event that was likely scarring for many of you. I’m talking, of course, about the PlayStation Plus outage earlier this month that lasted a grueling 8-10 hours for most. During that hellish window of disconnectivity we were unable to play our games online or access any of our streaming services.
We know there’s nothing Sony could ever do to make up for it. No amount of money, free games, or complimentary services could ever wipe that dark, wicked stain from the annals of our collective memories. As a gesture of condolence and goodwill, though, Sony is offering to extend our PS Plus or streaming services for a short time (likely 24 hours). You’ll want to keep an eye on the email associated with your PSN account this week; Sony will give you what you need to apply the extension to your services, or otherwise inform you of an extension they’ve already applied. This is a first step for healing. Stay strong, and don’t forget to check your promotional tab, Gmail users.
