Treyarch didn’t invent survival mode when they developed Nazi Zombies in 2008. However, they did drag the genre into the public eye and spawn an endless number of copycats, sequels, and pretenders. In fact, these days, it’s becoming difficult to find a title that doesn’t have some type of survival mode included in the package. Uncharted 3 was one notable hold-out, but that’s all about to change. Naughty Dog, the developer behind the Uncharted franchise, announced this week that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be getting the Survival mode treatment. Not much has been revealed about the “Co-Op Shade Survival” mode, but the developer did release a screen shot showing our hero, Nathan Drake, facing some heavily armed flaming enemies. ![]()
The DLC package will also include the Plaza, Temple, Train Wreck and Village maps. Each map has been polished with some new dynamic lighting and particle effects says community strategist Eric Monacelli: “The lighting on every map has been completely redone by the artists here at Naughty Dog,” he says. “This map pack provides a good look at the technical and gameplay shine we can put on Uncharted 3 multiplayer maps and foreshadows what you’ll be seeing in new DLC coming out over the next couple months.” Flashback Map Pack #2 will be out today. You’d better ask for some time off at work. By Josh Engen |
