Crow Country Cheats & Secrets for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S

Released on May 9, 2024, Crow Country is a survival horror title from independent studio SFB Games. After originally making its debut as part of Steam Next Fest, the title arrived for PC and modern consoles to mostly critical acclaim for its homage to the classics within the survival horror genre. Crow Country currently holds a “Mighty” 91% on review aggregate site OpenCritic, as well as strong commercial performance. Estimates place the total sales of Crow Country at just over 100,000 units, making it one of the more successful indie survival horror games of the year.

Crow Country Premise

Crow Country gameplay

Players take on the role of young FBI agent Mara Forest as she heads to investigate the disappearance of one Edward Crow — a local amusement park owner and entrepreneur who has vanished under mysterious circumstances. As soon as Mara arrives at the park, it becomes blatantly obvious that something is very amiss, leading her to investigate further in hopes of both finding Mr. Crow and stopping anyone else from falling victim to the Crow Country amusement park and its strange denizens.

Gameplay in Crow Country is fairly standard for the survival horror genre and follows the basic template established by games like the original Resident Evil. Players will navigate a large, interconnected map, solving puzzles and using firearms to combat enemies. Hints and items scattered around the park will help players solve the game’s various puzzles, opening up new areas of the park for exploration and progression further into the game’s main story. Combat takes place from an isometric third-person perspective, with players aiming a reticle along with a laser sight to line up shots on enemies.

Crow Country Main Characters

Crow Country gameplay

The narrative of Crow Country takes players back to the year 1990 and follows the exploits of a young girl named Mara. Though Mara claims to be an FBI agent sent to the abandoned Crow Country amusement park to follow up on a missing persons report filed by the owner’s daughter, it’s obvious that she has her own reasons for being there and is using an alias to get inside. She gradually reveals more about her intentions and her history with the park as she meets various survivors, from the injured photographer Arthur to the owner of the park himself, Edward Crow. The main characters in Crow Country include:

  • Mara Forest: The main character and player protagonist in Crow Country. Mara is an FBI agent who heads to Crow Country to investigate the disappearance of its owner.
  • Arthur Mole: Arthur is a photographer hoping to get some footage of strange goings on within the Crow Country amusement park who is injured.
  • Julie Baron: Julie is the lawyer hired by the parents of a girl injured at Crow Country. She is tracking down Edward Crow to see that he pays for the girl’s medical bills.
  • Natalie Crow: Natalie is Edward Crow’s daughter and works together with Mara to help her find him.
  • Edward Crow: Edward Crow is the enigmatic entrepreneur at the heart of Crow Country‘s mystery. He has apparently started a gold mining operation in addition to running an amusement park.

Other Retro-Styled Survival Horror Games Like Crow Country

SFB Games’ Crow Country is one of many newer survival horror games that take obvious inspiration from the early 5th-generation titles in the genre. Aside from featuring highly stylized low-poly aesthetics similar to the PS1 games of the era, these titles mostly follow the basic format for survival horror games established in classics like Alone In The Dark, Resident Evil, Clock Tower, and Silent Hill. As one might expect, fan response to these games has been overwhelmingly positive, and there’s every chance that one or more of these titles might see sequels or spiritual successors at some point. Some of the more noteworthy PS1-style retro survival horror games include:

  • Alisa (PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, 2020)
  • Heaven Dust (PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, 2020)
  • Signalis (PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, 2022)
  • Crow Country (PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X/S, 2024)
  • Conscript (PC, 2024)
  • Hollowbody (PC, 2024)
  • Sorry, We’re Closed (PC, 2024)

Getting an S Rank

To get an S Rank in Crow Country, players need to play the game on Survival Horror difficulty and meet four specific criteria:

  • 0 Lives Used (Lives are turned OFF by default)
  • 0 Hints
  • Find all 15 Secrets
  • Use 10 or fewer Healing Items

Using 0 lives is the easiest criterion to meet since lives are disabled by default when playing on Survival Horror difficulty. Further, to use 0 Hints, players just need to avoid the Fortune Teller kiosks throughout the park. Finding all 15 Secrets isn’t that difficult and the game keeps track of how many you have found. The most difficult criteria for an S Rank is using 10 or fewer healing items. Each Med Kit will count as 1 healing item, while Large Med Kits count as 2. The best way to avoid using too many healing items is to save often, run from combat when you can, and try to take enemies out at range using grenades.

All 15 Secrets in Crow Country

Players will need to find all 15 Secrets in Crow Country to earn an S Rank and unlock the “Secret Hunter” achievement/trophy. The secrets, in order, are as follows:

Secret 1

After obtaining the Bronze Key, head to the back room of the Fairy Pond and interact with the wall panel. It will drop to reveal a robotic crow. Interact with it to obtain the Magnum Laser.

Secret 2

Once Mara obtains the Crank Handle and talks to Julie, head into the Dungeon and interact with the Iron Maiden at the back of the room. The Iron Maiden will open to reveal a switch. Step inside and press the switch to enter the maintenance corridor in Haunted Hilltop. Right next to the locked gate is a hole in the wall containing Magnum Ammo.

Secret 3

In the room where Mara uses the winch to obtain the Woeful Mask, search the bucket behind the winch to find the Shotgun Laser.

Secret 4

By the time players acquire Secret 3, they will have opened the mouth to the giant mushroom in Fairytale Town. This giant mushroom is directly across the way from the Fairy Pond. Walk inside and eat all six mushrooms on the table, watching out for the other traps inside the room. Note that three of the mushrooms are poisonous and will drain Mara’s health after she eats them. Make sure to monitor her health and use healing items when necessary. Players can also run to the nearby Safe Room to save if necessary. After eating all six mushrooms, talk to the Mushroom King at the head of the table to obtain the Pistol Upgrade.

Secret 5

The hedge maze in Haunted Hilltop contains several pedestals that players have to kick to lower and raise platforms with matching symbols. Once players reach the center of the hedge maze, all the platforms will lower but enemies will start swarming the area. One of the offshoots of the maze just to the right of the entrance contains a previously inaccessible area where players can dispatch a single enemy to obtain some Magnum Ammo.

Secret 6

In the Gift Shop, add up the totals for three items noted in a nearby staff memo. The items are $5.50, $10.00, and $4.25, for a total of $19.75. Input the code “1975” at the cash register to obtain the .44 Magnum.

Secret 7

After obtaining Secret 6, open the fridge right next to the cash register and talk to the mushroom to receive the Shotgun Capacity upgrade.

Secret 8

Head to the Train Room in the Fairytale Town courtyard just across from the Gift Shop. Use the Data Disk on the computer and set the Engine to B, the 1st Car to D, the 2nd Car to A, and the Caboose to C. One of the train cars will open to reveal the Flamethrower.

Secret 9

Use the Silver Key on the trunk of Edward Crow’s car (the red car in the parking lot) to obtain the Running Shoes.

Secret 10

Inside the Ocean Kingdom storeroom, talk to the mushroom on the shelves to obtain the Gold Plated Magnum upgrade.

Secret 11

In the same storeroom where you obtain Secret 10, use the code 1825 on the Octopus Scale to obtain Magnum Ammo.

Secret 12

Inside the Dungeon in Haunted Hilltop, use the Data Disk on the computer to open all the cells. After, set the numbers on the computer for a human’s anatomy (2 legs, 2 arms, 1 head, 2 eyes). Head back into the Crypt to discover you can now interact with Ophelia’s Tomb. Search the tomb to obtain the Med Kit Upgrade.

Secret 13

Ring the Owl Bell 8 times outside the Haunted Manor to reveal some Magnum Ammo.

Secret 14

Inside the Haunted Manor, play the notes C, A, G, E to open the painting to the right of the grandfather clocks. Talk with the mushroom there to receive the Flamethrower Range upgrade.

Secret 15

After obtaining the Acid Bottle, head back to the main courtyard in Crow Country and enter the bathroom. Use the Acid Bottle on the pile of bones in the second-stall toilet to reveal some Magnum Ammo.

All Door/Safe Codes in Crow Country

Several of Crow Country‘s most important story items or valuable secrets lie hidden behind locked doors, wall panels, or safes that require the correct access code to open. Most of these are fairly obvious from putting together clues left around the Crow Country Park that Mara can read in staff memos or books lying around. Still, having a handy guide detailing all the codes can come in handy, especially on a second playthrough. Note that you do not need to pick up the requisite clues to be able to use the correct codes.

Great Fairy Code

Players can find this code scrawled on a piece of paper underneath where Arthur was lying. The code to rotate the Great Fairy statue in the Fairytale Town courtyard is 3184

Great Fairy Password

Reading one of the nearby staff memos regarding the Great Fairy statue reveals the catchphrase necessary to activate it so it moves out of the way. The catchphrase/password is “Hear me, oh Great Fairy of Fairest Forest“.

Crow’s Lounge Wall Safe Code

This code will become apparent after repeatedly seeing the year of an important incident at Crow Country. The year in question is 1988, which players can reverse to enter the wall safe in Crow’s Lounge (the first save room you come across just off the courtyard in Fairytale Town). The code to enter the wall safe and obtain the Secret Map is 8891. Players can obtain this code by solving the Neptune’s Palace Soda Machine puzzle if they’re unable to put the solution together otherwise.

Utility Corridor Safe Code

To unlock the safe in the Utility Corridor, players will need to remember Soulina’s death date from the gravestones in the crypt. The code is 1872.

Neptune’s Palace Soda Machine

A staff memo near Neptune’s Palace will give players a clue to the correct order they need to fill the cup at the soda fountain. To solve the puzzle and reveal the Crow’s Lounge wall safe code, fill the cup using sodas in this order: Groovy Grape, Luscious Lime, Pineapple Punch, Strawberry Sunshine. In other words; purple, green, yellow, pink.

Neptune’s Palace Door Code

A staff memo nearby will mention needing to change the door code to Neptune’s Palace because it’s “too easy” for guests to guess. The code is 1234.

Tolman’s Office Puzzle

Inside Tolman’s office, four VHS tapes are sitting on top of a TV and VCR. The titles of these tapes will give players a clue as to the notes for the piano that will open up the hidden panel on the wall. The notes are F, A, C, E.

Gift Shop Cash Register Code

To open the cash register inside the Gift Shop, Mara will need to add up the totals of three specific items. The totals for each item are $5.50, $10.00, and $4.25. Combine these to get the code for the cash register: $19.75 or 1975.

Store Room Door Puzzle

A staff memo will mention that the door to the storeroom in Ocean Kingdom is made of “old wood” and is unstable. Use this information to burn the door with the Flamethrower to get access.

Octopus Scale Code

Clues in and around the Ocean Kingdom storeroom will give players hints as to the code for the Octopus Scale. The code is 1825.

Break Room Door Code

After defeating the third optional Mini-Boss, a license plate will drop bearing the numbers “2263”. This is the code for the security gate that locks during the fight. Enter 2263 to move on to the next area.

Control Room Elevator Switch Number Code (Crow’s Office)

Upon entering the back area of Crow’s Office, you’ll see the numbers “9218” written on the wall. Enter 9218 as the access code to enter the Control Room and power on the central elevator.

Control Room Exit Code

After finishing up in the Control Room, the fourth and final Mini-Boss will appear. During the fight, the door to exit the Control Room locks. To exit the Control Room, players will need to walk on the dice on the floor in ascending order, making the code 123456.

Crow Country Cheat FAQs

How do you get the Map of Secrets in Crow Country?

During the early parts of Crow Country, players will come across a locked safe within the game’s first Safe Room/Save Room. Reading every book and staff memo you come across will reveal that the incident at the Crow Country theme park (and the chain of events that transpired afterward) occurred in 1988. Trying the code “1988” on the safe yields no result, but reversing it and typing 8891 will open the safe. Inside is the Map of Secrets, which reveals the location of the game’s 15 secrets on the map of the park. This comes in handy for those hoping to unlock the corresponding achievement or earn an S Rank.

How do you get an S Rank in Crow Country?

Like the Resident Evil games and other PS1-era survival horror titles, Crow Country features a ranking system. To get an S Rank and unlock all the game’s bonus weapons, players need to complete 4 specific objectives.

  • Use fewer than 10 healing items
  • Find all 15 secrets
  • Do not use any hints from the Fortune Teller
  • Do not lose any lives

Playing the game on the standard “Survival Horror” difficulty turns off lives by default, which means most players will automatically check this box. Additionally, players can just avoid the Fortune Teller kiosks to meet the requirement to not use hints. The other requirements, however, are slightly more difficult. The hardest is using fewer than 10 healing items, which requires players to carefully engage with enemies and be wary of traps. Note that a Med Kit counts as 1 healing item and a Large Med Kit counts as 2 healing items. Antidotes do not count as healing items.

Can you use the unlockable weapons and still get an S Rank in Crow Country?

While some players report differently on this subject, the developers note that players should be able to use bonus weapons unlocked during a previous playthrough and still earn an S Rank in subsequent playthroughs as long as they meet the other requirements. In other words, players can use the bonus weapons unlocked by the B Rank and A Rank playthroughs in a later playthrough and still earn an S Rank as long as they find all the secrets, don’t use hints, don’t lose lives, and heal less than 10 times.

How long to beat Crow Country?

As survival horror games go, Crow Country is a relatively short experience. Neither its combat nor its puzzles are overwhelmingly difficult, meaning players who are observant and follow the general rules of survival horror games are sure to be able to beat the game in a reasonable amount of time. Most players will complete Crow Country in roughly 5 hours, with players hoping to unlock all achievements taking roughly 8 hours. For what it’s worth, my initial playthrough of Crow Country where I earned an A Rank clocked in just over 3 hours.
