Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Cheats & Cheat Codes for the NES and More

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan Summary

Chala, head cha-la!

Look, you have to know at least something about Dragon Ball. To say this series is prolific is like saying water is wet, or the air is breathable. And, for such a popular series, you’d better believe there’s more than one game out there.

So, for today, let’s take a look at Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan. Yes, that’s how it’s spelled. Anyway, this RPG Card Battle game was released way back in 1990, and, sadly, never made its way westward. It follows the Sayian Saga at the start of Dragon Ball Z.

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan Premise

Starting at the beginning of Z, Son Goku’s life seems to be pretty quiet. His son, Gohan, has just turned four or so and has a dragon ball on his head (one of seven magical orbs that, when collected, can summon the mighty dragon Shenron and allow the user to grant one wish). But, Goku’s peaceful life is shattered when a mysterious visitor appears, a being who calls himself Radizt, and what’s more, is Goku’s older brother!

There, he reveals the truth. Goku isn’t a particularly talented human, he’s a Saiyan. Saiyans are a warrior race who, under the light of a full moon, become unstoppable Great Apes who can level mountain ranges with their fists.

But this isn’t some friendly family renouin, Radtiz promptly knocks Goku out in one go. The only way to get his son back is by teaming up with his once sworn enemy, Piccolo Jr!

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan Main Characters

Okay, just so you know, we will only be covering those who appear in this game, and not from the wider Dragon Ball Franchise. We would be here all day otherwise.

  • Goku. Easily one of the most popular character in anime history. Son Goku is the Sayian raised on Planet Earth, a goofball who’s easily the life of the party. But, beneath that happy exitoror is a fighter who lives for the thrill of battle. He also dies early, but that’s okay! He comes back (and it will never happen again, sure).
  •  Piccolo Jr. Goku’s rival turned ally, Piccolo is the cool-headed tactician. A “demon” who is an alien. He is Piccolo Sr.’s son, kind of. He’s also his dad’s clone, and it’s fairly complicated. But that doesn’t matter, what does matter is the fact that Piccolo Jr is much, much more dangerous than his dad.
  •  Gohan. Goku’s half-human, half-Saiyan son. He’s only four now, but make no mistake, in him is a wellspring of power that puts even his father to shame. For now, at least.
  •  Krillin. Goku’s oldest friend. A monk who’s also the world’s strongest human. He may be small, scared, and out of his league, but make no mistake, he’s damn near unkillable.
  •  Yamcha. A desert bandit turned martial artist turned baseball player, Yamcha is, sadly, the butt of many jokes. But…well, he does well in Super!
  •  Tien Shinhan. The three eyed man, and quite possibly one of the only people who beat Goku when he was a kid. There are not many who can claim that feat, not even Vegeta. Speaking of…
  •  Chiaotzu. No, he’s not a Pokemon! I don’t know what he is…

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan Titles of Video Games in the Series

So, I thought about listing every single Dragon Ball game here…and that would take way too long. So, instead, let’s list out every game in the Gokuden Series.

  • Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiya-jin (1990)
  •  Dragon Ball Z II: Gekishin Frieza!! (1991)
  •  Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku (1993)
  •  Dragon Ball Z III: Ressen Jinzou Ningen (1992)
  •  Dragon Ball 3: Goku-den (1989)
  •  Dragon Ball (2003)
  •  Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu (1992)

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan Cheat Codes

And of course, there are a few unlockables as well!

Unlock Chichi!

Reach the storyline of Tenkaichi Boudouki. When choosing your four fighters in Tenkaichi Boudouki:

1) choose Son Goku in the first grid from the very left,

2) leave the second grid from the left blank,

3) choose Piccolo in the third grid from the left, and

4) choose Kurirun in the remaining grid (ie, the fourth from the left)

And then the hidden character Chi Chi will show up and fight with Son Goku.

Unlimited Healing works! Er, Card!

When you have more than 3 items / cards in your inventory, move the cursor to the 3rd item from below, and then press right+down on your D-pad. It will bring the cursor to the empty space but the invisible “Master Roshi” card is there. This card will heal the user for about 40 HP, and this trick can be used as many as you want

Dragon Ball Z: Kyoushuu! Saiyan Cheat Code FAQ

Is it okay to skip Dragon Ball and go to Dragon Ball Z? Yep! Be it the first series or its sequel, you’re free to start whenever you want!

Why is Dragon Ball Z called Z? Because Z is the last letter of the English Alphabet, and the creator was running out of ideas for the series. He intended this to be the last Dragon Ball work, but…

Why is Goku also called Kakarot? Kakarot is Goku’s birth name, but he prefers Son Goku.
