Dragon Ball 3: Gokuden Summary
Dragon Ball 3: Gokuden, is the last of the Dragon Ball games to be released on the Famicom. It covers the story of Dragon Ball, that is, it takes place before Dragon Ball Z or Super. And to be clear, it isn’t a prequel either, the series did not start with Dragon Ball Z, it started with this. An interesting fact about this game, due to the fact it covers the majority of Dragon Ball story arcs, it was renamed “Dragon Ball” when it was released for the Wonderswan Color.
This game follows a mix of gameplay styles. In that you control Goku on a board-style overworld, moving him from place to place. On this board, you can interact with various characters, some of whom will offer information, and others will fight. When it comes to combat, you are given a randomly generated selection of cards. You have to use these cards to eliminate the enemy by combining its action with the order.
Dragon Ball 3: Gokuden Premise
As stated above, this game follows the story of the original Dragon Ball. It follows the adventures of young Son Goku, and his new best friend, Bulma. After she runs him over with a truck and shoots him in the face that is. Don’t worry, this little monkey boy is abnormally strong. The reason why Bulma is out here in the first place is because she is searching for the legendary Dragon Balls. Seven mystical orbs, each one with a numbered star upon it, that when gathered together, can grant the user any wish they desire.
Goku has the four star dragon ball, and Bulma has the dragon radar, a device that can locate the other dragon balls. Together, the two set out to find the rest, and get their wish granted.
Dragon Ball 3: Gokuden Main Characters
- Goku (Kid and Young Adult). He’s not the legendary Super Saiyan yet, but this monkey boy is still more than a match for most of Earth’s toughest fighters. Based upon the famous Sun Wukong, this boy will grow up to be a legend.
- Krillin. Goku’s best friend, and first enemy. Krillin is a Buddhist monk, who originally quite selfish and jealous. But, after two years with Goku, he becomes kinder.
- Yamcha. The scarred face bandit of the desert. Yamcha, before he becomes a joke, is fairly dangerous here.
- Bulma. Goku’s first friend, Bulma is the one who kickstarts the plot. What’s more, she is also the soon-to-be CEO of Capsule Corp.
- Master Roshi. The trainer of Goku and Krillin. He started a cliche who is best left in the dust. But he’s a skilled master, and the creator of the world-famous Kamehameha attack.
- Oolong. A talking pig who may be based upon Zhu Bajie, a pig demon from Journey to the West.
- Chi-Chi. A mafia princess, maybe. She’s the daughter of the Ox-King and Goku’s future wife. She can also cook, a lot. This may not sound like much, but considering how much Goku eats…
- Piccolo Sr. The original King of Evil. Piccolo is the demon king who seeks the Dragon Balls to become immortal.

Last Fight Password
At the password screen, enter the following Japanese characters. Format is Row Number, Column Number. Fighting Raditz
First, finish the game. When seeing the ending credits, you will see Raditz (Goku’s brother) crossing the screen, at that point press A in order to fight him. He is the strongest character in this game.
Fight Arale
After finishing the game, during the ending when all the character’s portraits start to appear, press A as soon as you see Arale’s portrait to fight her.
Figthing Dr. Slump’s Arale
Finish the game. When seeing the ending credits, you will see a girl crossing the screen, at that point press A to fight Arale. A character from Akira Toriyama’s Dr. Slump, which turns out to be most powerful fighter in the game.
Dragon Ball 3: Gokuden Cheat Code FAQ
Who is Arale? Arale is a secret character in this game and Akira Toriyama’s first creation. She was the star of the Dr. Slump manga. She can also beat Vegeta into the ground.
Is Dragon Ball based on Journey to the West? Of a sort. It was inspired by Journey to the West, with Son Goku’s name being the Japanese reading of Sun Wukong.
Is this game connected to Dragon Ball Z? It has the secret boss fight of Radtiz, so yes.
