Dark Souls 2 Closed Beta on Its Way to PS3

Dark Souls 2 Closed Beta on Its Way to PS3

Publisher Namco Bandai today announced that the coming RPG Dark Souls 2 will soon be up for play via closed demo on PlayStation 3. The demo, comprised of an “entirely new area of the game” than the trailers and teasers we’ve seen thus far, will become available in North America and Europe October 5 th , but the details of how to gain access have not yet been divulged, nor has the possibility of Xbox 360 or PC demos. Fans of FromSoftware’s Souls franchise that are eager to get early hands-on time with DS2 are advised to keep up with the game’s official Facebook page.

The news comes shortly after the conclusion of FromSoftware’s Shield Art contest, which invited fans to submit their own artwork to be used in-game as shields for Dark Souls 2 characters. The same contest was held for Dark Souls and helps demonstrate that, despite the change of hands (i.e., directors), Dark Souls 2 will not lack the iconic Souls vibe. Here’s hoping the demo cements that notion.
