EA’s survival horror title Dead Space will receive a full-length animated film in order to provide continuity between where the story in the comics left off and where the game begins. According to Gamasutra, the film is being created by Starz Media’s film unit, Film Roman. The movie will release this Halloween along with the game itself. The film will be available for purchase on DVD as well as various television and internet broadcasts. Other than Starz Media’s home entertainment company Anchor Bay, the exact distributors of the film are still unknown. However, Starz Media has made it clear that there are a multitude of interested parties. Electronic Arts has stated that they are overjoyed to be working with Film Roman on the project, and that turning games into movies is high on their list of priorities. EA will continue to branch out into the film industry and may in fact become a major player in various forms of media.
