The last rumor spinning around the Halo franchise I heard about was a couple of weeks ago when Microsoft dispelled rumours of Alien’s Ridley Scott directing a digital, feature-length movie of Halo . This week’s Halo rumor revolves around the District 9 director directing the pilot episode of the upcoming Halo TV series.
Reported by “trusted sources” to LatinoReview , Neill Blomkamp, who also directed Elysium (which is apparently quite good) is reported to be the one who will kickstart the Halo TV series by directing the pilot episode.
While it is known that he had previously begun working on the fabled Halo movie back around 2007 or so with The Lord of the Rings’ director Peter Jackson as the producer, and while it would make sense for him to be the one to pilot the Halo TV series, it’s better to remain dubious until something concrete and official has been announced on the matter.
The Halo TV series itself is currently under production, and 343 Industries is overseeing its development with Steven Spielberg as the series’ executive producer. The series is slated to debut in the second quarter of this year.
