E3 2016: Sony Assures Us PS4 Is Ready for VR

E3 2016: Sony Assures Us PS4 Is Ready for VR

Ever since rumors started circulating about the PlayStation Neo, people have been worried about how their regular PlayStation 4’s will run PS VR games. After all, if Sony is making new hardware to better support 4k and VR, it’s only logical to wonder whether the current hardware doesn’t quite make the cut.

Sony exec Jim Ryan assures us that’s not the case. Speaking with MCV, he reassured us that all the PS VR demos at E3 are running on regular PlayStation 4 units, not PCs or Neos. He said that Sony felt very confident in the quality of its VR experience and urged E3 attendees to visit their booth and try the games for themselves.

As for why the PS Neo did not make an appearance at E3, Ryan said that Sony wanted to tell a “pure story about games” during its E3 conference, and the company will take its time and introduce the Neo properly later on. Judging from the positive reaction to Sony’s game-heavy, talk-light presser, I think the company made the right choice.
