Square Enix has just released the new E3 trailer (in English) for World of Final Fantasy and… I still have no idea what’s going on in this game. All I can say for sure is it’s headed to PS4 and the PlayStation Vita on October 25. It looks cute as hell, and the chibi character models are wonderful, but as far as gameplay goes I’m still not sure what to expect. Here’s the official lowdown: “In World of Final Fantasy , players lead a pair of twins, Reynn and Lann, through the land of Grymoire on a search to rediscover their lost memories. Throughout their adventure, players will collect, raise and battle adorable beings of classic Final Fantasy lore, including cactuar, chocobo and behemoth, to create customizable, strategic tower combinations to take on the most challenging of opponents.”
Don’t be scared by the word “tower.” This isn’t some kind of tower defense game; Square Enix is actually calling it an RPG. The battle system is where the towers come in, and it looks like you’ll be stacking various creatures and characters on top of one another for various effects.
