World of Final Fantasy Demo Drops Next Week

World of Final Fantasy Demo Drops Next Week

World of Final Fantasy is quickly rising to the top of my most-wanted list. It’s an odd looking game, to be sure. It’s without a doubt the most Japanese, “cutesy,” and “chibi” Final Fantasy game to hit the States, and most aren’t sure how to feel about it. Here’s an adorable, enormous JRPG with classic and original characters where you’ll fight and capture monsters of various sizes. You’ll create “stacks” with your character and your captured monsters (literally stacking them on top of one another) for use in battle, and different combinations of stacked creatures will offer various advantages and disadvantages while fighting.

Weird, right? This is something entirely different than what we’re used to, and different can be scary sometimes. In the case of WoFF , different is effing adorable, but we’re still leery. Thankfully Square Enix is giving us a chance to try the game for ourselves about a week before release. A playable demo hits the PlayStation Store on October 17. In the demo you’ll get a taste of exploration and combat, and you’ll have a chance to unlock a special item for the full version. “Completing the demo allows players to battle and capture ‘Magitek Armor P’ at the coliseum in the full version of the game.”

World of Final Fantasy arrives October 25 for PS4 and PS Vita. Check out the newly released opening cinematic below:
