Faxanadu is an action RPG developed by famous Japanese developer Hudson Soft for the NES. Released in 1987, Faxanadu is a spin-off of Xanadu an installment of the long-running RPG series, Dragon Slayer. The game has elements of side-scrolling and platforming while also mixing in role-playing tropes like an expansive story and medieval setting. The player plays as an unnamed protagonist who’s wandering home. The game begins when he approaches Eolis, his hometown, after an absence to find it in disrepair and virtually abandoned. The game received critical acclaim for its mechanics with some critics comparing it to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

The Premise of Faxanadu
The hero you control can walk, jump, and climb ladders. While navigating the world you can stop and purchase items with gold. equip and use bladed weapons against enemies, equip armor, and cast magic projectiles. In addition, you can access information regarding the game’s events by speaking with townsfolk or by consulting other sources. The game uses a password system to level up and maintain saved progress. Passwords can be obtained from church-dwelling Gurus. Gurus also bestow ranks to the hero when he meets certain experience totals; these determine the amount of experience and gold a player will possess upon resuming a game via password.

Faxanadu Secrets
Easy Money
At the beginning of the game, when the king gives you 1500 gold, spend it all(so you have 0 gold) and go back to him. He will give you another 1500 gold. You can repeat as necessary.
Life Refill
At the beginning of the game, go to the right and get killed by the dwarf. When you return, Your life and magic will be refilled for free.
Free Full Plat Armor
In the town of Victim, go to the bar and talk to the man in the back. If you haven’t already bought the full plate armor he will give it to you for free.
