Gamers Get First Look at Halo: Nightfall

Gamers Get First Look at Halo: Nightfall

While many are looking forward to the release of the next epic chapter in the Halo franchise (entitled Guardians ), the latest live action series is getting a serious amount of buzz as well.

Nightfall was shown off at Comic-Con in San Diego recently, which may very well be as close as we ever get to a honest to goodness Halo film (with it being stuck in development hell for well over a decade now). The staff of the Xbox Wire gave further details regarding the series plot, stating it takes place“…between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall follows the origin story of legendary manhunter Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and his team as they are caught in a horrific terrorist attack…As the plot unravels, they’re drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact where they’re forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives.”

While this series isn’t helmed by director Peter Jackson or even the likes of Steven Spielberg (which had been attached to a Halo themed project several times in the past) the digital release isn’t in the hands of any light weight here. Film icon Ridley Scott is acting as executive producer and had this to say regarding the production; “In science fiction, we’re always searching for new frontiers. We’re drawn to the unknown. With Halo: Nightfall , we’re pioneering a new medium in terms of interactive storytelling on Xbox.  It’s going to be fun for long-time fans to see how the worlds come together with an ambition to attract new fans along the way with what we’ve created.”

Halo: Nightfall drops November 11 th on Xbox Live (or can be viewed by picking up a copy of the new Master Chief Collection ).
