Majesco announced that their best-selling franchise, Cooking Mama, will be getting a portable cousin in early 2009. According to the announcement, Gardening Mama will comparable gameplay to the Cooking Mama but will require a green thumb rather than a subtle palate. Players will have to plant and grow crops, flowers, plants, and vegetables on their way to Gardening Mama success. The DS exclusive will employ touch screen controls and even Wi-Fi capabilities for trading produce and goodies with friends. Here’s what Majesco CEO Jesse Suuton had to say: “This first brand offshoot captures those features that made the Cooking Mama series a best seller — an innovative concept, full touch screen control, approachable gameplay for everyone and, of course, a charismatic mentor who pushes you in her own endearing way to give a gold medal performance every time.”
