God of War: Ghost of Sparta Announced for PSP

None

If you haven’t checked out SpartansStandTall.com recently (a stormy teaser site that’s been hinting something Kratos related for the past few weeks), today it confirms that the God of War franchise is once again getting the portable treatment.

Called God of War: Ghost of Sparta, this PSP / PSPgo title is being put together by the same development team that created God of War: Chains of Olympus – Ready At Dawn Studios and SCEA Santa Monica Studio.

No release date has been penciled in yet, but, from the stunning screens featured below, it looks like they’re already pretty far along. Also, it was revealed over on the PlayStation Blog that players can expect “over 25% more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers” compared to the game’s PSP predecessor, as well as graphics that push the PSP hardware to its limit.

SCEA PR Manager, Eric Levine, described the game’s plot this way:

“…this new adventure will serve as a prequel of sorts, picking up where God of War left off. Ghost of Sparta tells the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must face his dark past to prove his worthiness to the Gods — a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos’ tattoo, scar, and family.”
