GoldenEye 007 is one of the most iconic first-person shooters and is considered one of the best multiplayer shooters of the past few decades. Released on Aug. 27, 1997, developed by Rare, and published by Nintendo, the game will forever be immortalized in gaming history. It was initially exclusive to Nintendo 64, but in 2023, the game was re-released for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
The only downside to this incredible release was the lack of online multiplayer. Players could enjoy the multiplayer, but only from the comfort of their couch. And as with many titles in the ‘90s, the developers had cheat codes. Some of the more popular ones include DK Mode for big heads or an Invincibility cheat code to make your player god-like.
GoldenEye 007 Main Characters
In GoldenEye 007, fans play as a wide range of characters, both from the single-player campaign and the multiplayer mode. Here is a list of main characters in the game:
- James Bond: The iconic British secret agent and the game’s protagonist.
- Alec Trevelyan (006): Bond’s former ally turned primary antagonist in the game.
- Natalya Simonova: A computer programmer and key ally to Bond in the game’s story.
- Xenia Onatopp: A henchwoman and villainous character in the game.
- Boris Grishenko: A skilled hacker and enemy encountered by Bond.
- Valentin Zukovsky: A Russian gangster who assists Bond in his mission.
- General Arkady Ourumov: A corrupt Russian general and one of the game’s main antagonists.
But some of the most memorable characters were from the multiplayer, like Oddjob, who gave players an unfair advantage with height. Aiming was tricky with the single joystick, so having a character shorter than the rest resulted in hilarity.
