Guillermo Del Toro Is Done with Video Games

While we all are hoping for another shot at P.T. from Guillermo Del Toro, the acclaimed Hollywood director is not interested in trying to make another one.

Why?

Well, he thinks he is bad luck, which makes some sense, as most of his video game projects have failed before they even released.

“I have proven to be the albatross of video games,” he said in an interview with Shacknews. “I joined THQ, and THQ goes broke. I join Kojima, and Kojima leaves Konami. I have decided, in order not to destroy anyone else’s life, I will never again get involved in video games. Otherwise, I’ll join someone and his house will explode, or something.”

Del Toro went on to say that he and Kojima are still friends and he would love to learn from him and aid him in any way that doesn’t specifically involve creating a video game. “I can gladly say that we are friends and I love his work and I will continue learning from him as a friend,” he said. “But I am not… if I join another video game, World War III will start.”

Del Toro said he would gladdly be an advisor to a video game project, just not take an essential role on it. “I can be creative about it, and I can be educated about it, and talk about it in a way that helps them make the video game. But no – I can’t,” he said.
