Is Amazon Giving Non-Prime Gamers the Shaft?

Is Amazon Giving Non-Prime Gamers the Shaft?

Sure enough, as soon as I write an article eulogizing Amazon Prime and all of its wonders, Amazon goes and pulls a dick move. It won’t affect Prime members, of course, but in an attempt to attract more gamers to its Prime service Amazon has decided to make some of the most popular and best-selling games Prime exclusives.

So here’s the deal: if you look up Rainbow Six Siege,Grand Theft Auto V, or Fifa 16 on Amazon right now, you might notice a new little box over to the right that reads “This item… is reserved for Amazon Prime members,” and where the “add to cart” button used to be, there’s a shiny new button that says “Join Prime.” Very subtle. However, you’ll also notice that the new notification is also placed right above the third-party sellers, many of which are still selling all of these games for the same (if not lower) prices. So you can still order your games from Amazon, you just might have to do a little extra shopping now. No one seems to be responding to this positively, and Amazon has been known to try out some pretty audacious strategies to market its services, so we’ll see if this particular policy endures. I don’t think it will.
