ZeniMax, the parent company of popular game developer and publisher Bethesda Softworks, has filed a USPTO application for a new “computer game software” project called Brink. According to GameSpot, this project could be the product of the “long-term development deal” Bethesda Softworks entered into with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars developer Splash Damage. Of course, details are scarce and involved parties have yet to confirm anything. As such, it is just as likely that the project now known as Brink could be something entirely different. Moreover, the patent application also talks about providing “entertainment services, namely, providing on-line interactive computer games and providing information relating to electronic computer games via the internet.” While this is a standard, base-covering statement that will allow the filers to protect their rights to bring the game online, it may also be a sign that the rumored Bethesda MMOG is actually the title in question. That being said, Brink doesn’t seem to be a likely name for a game that was supposedly to be an MMOG based in the Elder Scrolls universe. |
