Is the Next Assassin’s Creed Set in Ancient Greece?

Is the Next Assassin’s Creed Set in Ancient Greece?

Another year, another wave of Assassin’s Creed leaks and/or rumors. Earlier, word was going around that the working title for the next game, ostensibly coming in 2019, is currently Dynasty . Working titles ultimately don’t mean a whole lot, but can potentially hint at the setting. Obviously this led to a bunch of speculation about the next Assassin’s Creed being set in perhaps China or Japan. However, a new report from Unseen 64’s Liam Robertson is now pointing us all towards the ever-popular Ancient Greece.

Citing several sources related to Ubisoft, Robertson says that Greece has been on the table since talk leading up to the big reveal for 2017’s Assassins’ Creed Origins . Back then the game had the working title of Empire , and the narrative progressed from Greece, to Greece being a smaller part of the story, to Greece being saved for the next game. Robertson does say to take this, as any rumor, with a grain of salt. That said, he points to Ubisoft artist Raphael Lacoste posting pictures from a recent trip to Greece on social media.

In terms of release, the next game is allegedly planned for fall 2019, and has been in development since around early 2017. It’s currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Nothing about a Switch release, which is to be expected considering the scale of Assassin’s Creed games.
