Jurassic World Plot Details Confirmed
After the announcement that a fourth Jurassic Park film would be going into production, one of the biggest hot button topics was the who, what and where regarding the plot of the movie. Now the official details have been confirmed.
Warning : Kinda’ spoilerish stuff below (but typical info you’ll probably see in the trailer anyway).
Earlier this week, Colin Trevorrow (Director of the picture) released a pseudo-press release that gives official synopses of the film. In it, we learn the events takes place 22 years after the original and WILL see a return to the famed island theme park (now in full operation). Here are Trevorrow statements about the script in full: “’ Jurassic World ‘ takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. You arrive by ferry from Costa Rica. It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible. It’s the realization of John Hammond’s dream, and I think you’ll want to go there.”
One point I found particularly interesting is how the film plans to comment on today’s blasé attitude towards virtually everything (and our indifference for scientific marvels). Illustrating how quickly teenagers can become bored with their toys, Trevorrow describes one possible scene depicting “…a teenager texting his girlfriend with his back to a T-Rex behind protective glass. For us, that image captured the way much of the audience feels about the movies themselves. We’ve seen CG dinosaurs. What else you got?”
And that is an interesting question. How do you up the ante from what was a huge breakthrough in CG during the mid-‘90s (but is old hat today). Trevorrow says “Next year, you’ll see our answer.”
