Lag Patch For 360 Version Of Persona 4 Arena Incoming

None

Persona 4 Arena was released in the States yesterday, and Xbox 360 players are noticing a couple of issues. Specifically, the game lags a bit online, far more than the PS3 version.

You can attribute this to the game’s netcode, which most fans are assuming uses rollback technology. Rollback netcode that has been developed for the PS3 and ported to the Xbox 360 has historically had problems at launch; just look at Skullgirls for a recent example. However, Arc System Works and Atlus are on the job and they assure us that the patch will arrive as soon as possible.

In addition, Atlus also commented on the rather hefty amount of DLC that you can purchase for the game at launch, saying, “The content is assured to be entirely cosmetic, offering passionate fans a chance to further customize their characters and play experiences without affecting the game’s critical balance and mechanics.”

This means that we will likely not see DLC characters, or if we do they will probably be free. The same goes for DLC balance patches.

Frankly, if rabid fans want to shell out two bucks for the option to put glasses on their characters, I say let ‘em!

UPDATE: It turns out that fans theorizing the Xbox 360 netcode problems stem from a rollback syste mare wrong. The game actually uses a synch and delay netcode, similar to Street Fighter IV, not a rollback code like Street Fighter X Tekken. Still no word on what is causing the problems though.
