League of Legends Is Getting Nexus Blitz

League of Legends Is Getting Nexus Blitz

League of Legends, the free-to-play MOBA, has had its fair share of limited time modes, but its core game has largely remained unchanged over the years. That is why it is slightly surprising that a new, potentially permanent, addition is in the works. Prepare for Nexus Blitz!

Nexus Blitz is part of a series of something called Experimental Modes. It will be available for community testing. The Gameplay Producer for the title, Michael Chu, stated in an official post that “With experimental modes, we’re looking for something that could last a while–maybe even as a permanent addition to League .” This is refreshing news, as experimentation is how we discover new genres and player preferences for gaming in general.

Nexus Blitz will feature shorter matches that last 15-minutes and will play out on a smaller map. It will also contain “events” that will provide teams with goals that are sudden, unpredictable, and potentially crucial. The mode is currently in the Public Beta Environment and will move to the main servers in alpha form as part of Patch 8.16. Let’s hope it shows up in League of Legends soon!
