LittleBigPlanet 2 Delay Explanation

LittleBigPlanet 2 Delay Explanation

None

When the new 2011 release date was given for LittleBigPlanet 2 last week, Sackboy fans the world over heaved a sigh of unhappiness. Although no official reason has been given at the time as to why this release was pushed back, some comments recently made by Media Molecule head Alex Evans shed some light on the thought process behind the LittleBig shift to 2011.

In an Interview, Evans stated, “Like LittleBigPlanet, we will be supporting the game with patches, updates, and whatever, but you have to realize right from the beginning that there are those people who don’t have online and that is why we decided it was the right decision to delay the game.” Evans went on to clarify that, “we respect people don’t have online and don’t want to patch their game to get the full experience. We could have shipped it and it would have been fine, however we realized that with just a couple of extra weeks we could make the game super amazing.

Although this news is little comfort to us waiting on pins and needles for this much-anticipated title, the decision makes sense in this context, and it’s nice to see MediaMolecule ensuring that all users, be they online-enabled or not, will be able to get the same enjoyment from LittleBigPlanet when it finally does ship sometime next year.
