A man from Katy, Texas was stabbed earlier today with a replica of the Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda franchise during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred after Eugene Thompson, the owner of the replica, had an argument with his girlfriend, to which she called her ex-husband for help. As a means of defense, Thompson pulled the replica from its sheath and pointed it towards the ex-husband when he approached Thompson down a hallway. The tip of the sword entered the ex-husband as he came closer to him.
“And I pulled it out and I stood in the doorway and he was just coming down that hall at me while I was yelling ‘Go away, you don’t live here,'” Thompson explained to the police, as reported by the Independent . “And he just walked right into the point. I don’t know if he thought it was a toy.”
The ex-husband was then taken to the hospital after the dispute, but not before apparently smashing a flower pot over Thompson’s head. Police authorities have yet to confirm whether or not the ex-husband will press charges once he is in better health, or if any charges will be filed at all.
