Mass Effect Isn’t Over, But Shepard Is

None

In a recent interview with PC Gamer, BioWare CEO Dr. Ray Mazuka said that BioWare will continue to make games in the Mass Effect Universe. “We have ambitious plans to continue this franchise going forward. Mass Effect 3 is simultaneously a couple of different things; a thrilling and epic conclusion to the trilogy as we promised our fans we’d provide for Commander Shepard, but it’s also a brand new beginning – it’s an entry point for new fans and it’s also a brand new beginning.”

So then what trilogy is Mass Effect 3 actually an end to? Well, according to Mazuka, it’s an end to the story of Commander Shepard. “After this, Commander Shepard’s story is complete,” Mazuka said, going on to say that even if there are more games in the Mass Effect universe, Shepard definitely will not be in them.

So it’s time to say our goodbyes everyone. We have traveled alongside Commander Shepard for quite a long while, but it’s time for him/her to step down and let another protagonist step up to the plate.
