Metro Redux Officially Announced for Summer Release

Metro Redux Officially Announced for Summer Release

After officially being confirmed following a retail leak back in late-March, a press release that was published on Thursday, May 22 announced that Metro Redux , the Xbox One and PlayStation ports of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light , have been slated for a summer release.

Featuring fully re-mastered improvements, Metro Redux has been re-worked for current-gen visuals at a smooth 60 frames per second and has received improved content to boot.

Aside from visual fidelity being improved for both 2033 and Last Light– such as advanced lightening, dynamic weather, more detailed characters and improved animations– Metro Redux is touted to have had its gameplay radically improved upon, featuring advanced enemy AI and improved stealth and combat mechanics. Additionally, there will be superior weapon handling and more responsive, intuitive controls.

Furthermore, signature features from Last Light will be implemented into the Redux package, presumably bringing in the game’s atmospheric “mask wipe” mechanic, weapon customization, silent kills and take downs to Metro 2033 .

The Redux version of Last Light will also receive a graphical face-lift and gameplay improvements that’ll carry across both titles, such as new close-combat animations and the “Check Watch” and “Check Inventory” features. It’ll also come included with all the previously released Season Pass content, which will add an additional 10 hours of single player gameplay.

What’s more, both redux versions will feature the “Survival” Play Style mode, which will basically make your gameplay experience a lot more survival-based: limited resources, deadlier AI, slow reloading speeds, and so on. For those wanting a more action-orientated experience, you’ll be able to select the “Spartan” Play Style, which will offer you a powerful set of combat skills and resources aplenty.

Finally, the Ranger Mode will be making an appearance to both games, providing a more immersive experience and removes the HUD entirely.

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will be available separately upon release via digital download for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC for a suggested price of $24.99 / €19.99 / £15.99.

Additionally, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will also be available as a boxed bundle, entitled Metro Redux , for a suggested retail price of $49.99 / €39.99 / £34.99.

Dedicated Linux and SteamOS versions will be available later on in the year.
