Microsoft Prefers Xbox Live Subs as Success Metric

Microsoft Prefers Xbox Live Subs as Success Metric

Microsoft is done using consoles shipped as a metric for its success. In fact, it’s had enough of providing consistent reports on those figures. Instead, it plans on using subscriptions for Xbox Live as an indicator of its performance.

Microsoft has, however, said that its overall console sales are diminishing year-over-year. This could be a result of a decline in Xbox 360 sales; a considerably older system.

Sales of Xbox Live continue to increase, despite poor console sales. This year, the company has seen a 28 percent increase in usership bringing it up to around 39 million total active subscriptions. This indicates that their platform is still a healthy one and a popular choice for many gamers. Still, a decision to no longer provide quarterly figures for console sales has some consumers suspicious.
