Need for Speed: Carbon is a 2006 open-world racing game by EA Black Box. Building off previous games in the series, Need for Speed: Carbon brings new features, updated graphics, and an engaging plot. Players arrive in the fictional city of Palmont City to compete in illegal street races, engage in thrilling high-speed police chases, and fight rival gangs for territory. The game has received positive reviews for its riveting gameplay and engaging cutscenes. The success hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans as well. As of 2019, the game has sold over 15 million units.  

Need for Speed: Carbon Premise

Players are transported to the dangerous criminal world of Palmont City. In this world, different racing crews vie for power over the city’s four boroughs through street races. An unnamed main character from the previous game, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, seeks to gain control over his lost territory. Racing rival gangs in various tournaments, the player gradually gains control over the boroughs only to realize one of his friends, Darius, has betrayed him. In one final race, the main character beats Darius and his crew to secure control over the fourth borough, securing all territory of Palmont. 

Need for Speed: Carbon Main Characters

Need for Speed: Carbon allows players to explore the expansive map in an open-world environment.

 The main character that the player controls in the game is unnamed and lacks a personality. However, this doesn’t stop other characters from being developed as well as critical parts of the story. Here is a list of the main characters from the game. 

Darius: Friend of the main character and leader of the Stacked Deck gang. He betrays the main character and becomes the villain near the end of the game.

Nikki: Girlfriend of Darius who later sides with the main character after discovering Darius’ betrayal. 

Jonathan Cross: Former police sergeant of Palmont City. He later becomes a bounty hunter and serves as the main antagonist in the game since he is attempting to collect a bounty on the main character.

Kenji: Leader of the Bushido gang, one of the rival gangs fighting for control over the various boroughs of Palmont City.

Angie: Leader of the 21st Street Gang.

Wolf: Leader of the T.F.K. Gang, one of the rival gangs.
