New Details Revealed about Tales of Zestria’s Battle System

How will the new Tales game play? The latest issue of Famitsu has some details.

First of all, characters will be split up into two different types in Tales of Zestria . They will be either human, or they will be a member of the Heavenly Tribe. Human characters used arcane arts, much like the arts that we are used to from Tales games past. However, Heavenly Tribe members will use Heaven Echo arts. We aren’t quite sure what they are, but their rules of use and combo-ing will be different than normal and arcane arts.

Many battle elements also seem to be coming from other Tales games as well. For example, sidestelling from Tales of Graces will make a return. It also appears as if characters can be “linked” in some manner, similar to Tales of Xillia . Hopefully this doesn’t mean the game can only be enjoyed by 2 players again.

Another new element of the battle system is the “Blast Gauge.” This gauge increases as you heal or perform defensive techniques. When it is full you can use it as a burst to get attacking enemies off you. You can also use it to fill your “spirits chain” meter, which allows you to chain arts into one another.
