New Splinter Cell Supposedly in the Works

New Splinter Cell Supposedly in the Works

Splinter Cell was one of the biggest surprises when it launched on the Xbox in 2002. It was immediately compared to Metal Gear Solid at launch, and no one expected this new IP from Ubisoft to make much of a splash. It’s now considered one of the best stealth franchises in the industry, with series entries like Blacklist and Chaos Theory being two of the most treasured games in the genre. Needless to say, we’ve been itching for a new, next-gen Splinter Cell , and it sounds like we’re getting one.

This news comes to us via NeoGaf user ” Crossing Eden ,” who has provided multiple, reliable leads on Ubisoft projects in the past. According to their source, a new Splinter Cell has been in development for an unknown amount of time, and Michael Ironside will be returning as Sam Fisher. The following is quoted directly from Eden’s source: “…I was surprised Splinter Cell didn’t appear at E3. I know Ironside is back. He was in the studio, I said Hi to him and his daughter. He was shooting a movie with Amy Jo Johnson, and I know someone who worked on that set and Ironside confirmed to him he was doing the new Splinter Cell… but it’s been hard to get anything beyond ‘It’s Happening.'” In other words, we’ll probably be waiting a while, but it’s nice to know the wheels are turning.
