New Tropico On The Way

New Tropico On The Way

If you are the type of guy who loves taking dictatorial control of a militarized island nation, you’re probably a sicko. Luckily, Haemimont Games is working on a brand new Tropico to keep you occupied so that you don’t eventually build your own nuclear device and threaten the security of the world.

Haemimont CEO Gabriel Dobrov told Joystiq, “This time we’re wiping the whole game clean and building it from the ground up.” Dobrov also said that this new installment will be “larger in scope” than previous games. The graphics will be new, the gameplay will be new—the entire project will be something completely separate from the Tropicos of the past.  However, Dobrov did not mention what era the game will be set in, what location it will be set in, or any specific game mechanics.

It’s actually slightly surprising that a new Tropico is entering development, considering Tropico 4’s last expansion, Modern Times, just released earlier this year. Guess you can’t keep a good dictator down.

We’ll bring you more information on the Tropico 5 project as it becomes available.
