Nintendo Employee Fired for Being on a Podcast

Nintendo Employee Fired for Being on a Podcast

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in this internet-invasive world, it’s that you don’t talk about your job online. Bad things can happen, especially if someone works for a notoriously tight-lipped company like Nintendo. So when the Nintendo Treehouse’s Chris Pranger appeared on the Part-Time Gamers podcast , you knew no good could come of it. Nintendo found out and he was fired.

Part of the problem likely not only comes from his appearance, but some of the things that were discussed on the podcast. Pranger talked about the Xenoblade Chronicles localization and other things. At one point in the podcast, Pranger says, “You look at something like even Xenoblade Chronicles. People love that game, you know, within a certain group. That game is not the type of game that just pulls in enough to justify the costs on that. We got it in the States by luck, that [Nintendo of Europe] decided ‘Oh, we’ll take the bullet. We’ll localize that.’ Like, ‘OK!’ because someone is going to have to eat the costs somewhere, because that game is guaranteed to not sell enough to justify how big that game is.”

Our condolences to Pranger. Take this as a lesson, folks. Don’t talk business online.
