After multiple rumors and accessory leaks, Nintendo has officially revealed the Switch Lite. On September 20, 2019, the first three models will be available. For $199.99, people will be able to get a gray, turquoise or yellow version. It is about 0.4 inches shorter and almost one inch shorter than a normal Switch, with a 5.5” touch screen compared to the standard model’s 6.2” one. Its battery life will also be slightly longer.
However, the Switch Lite will not have all of the same features as a standard Switch. This is designed to only act as a handheld. As such, there is no way to slip it into a dock to play its games on a TV or stand it up on a table for Tabletop Mode. However, it can play games that don’t support Handheld Mode if people purchase separate controllers and connect them wirelessly.
In addition to the standard version of the Switch Lite, its first limited edition model was revealed. Ahead of Pokemon Sword and Shield’ s launch on November 15, 2019, a model with its theme will appear. The Zacian and Zamazenta Edition will have the two new legendary Pokemon on the back of a silver unit. It will have cyan buttons on the left side of the unit and magenta buttons on the right. The two new Pokemon will appear on the back. It will also cost $199.99, just like the normal models, when it launches on November 8, 2019.
