Nintendo Switch Price Possibly Leaked

Nintendo Switch Price Possibly Leaked

Months ahead of its March 2017 launch, we may have an idea of how much the Nintendo Switch will cost – if a leak via the Canadian Toys”R”Us website is to be believed. The product page, which has since been taken down, priced the console at $330 CAD. At the current exchange rate, that comes out to just over $240 USD, which means we could reasonably expect it to be priced around $250 at retail.

This is seemingly corroborated by a report from UK retailer GAME, who is aware of the Switch’s wholesale price and will reportedly be selling the console at £200 (about $215 USD). The same report reveals the existence of a second Switch bundle featuring more internal storage and a game for £250 (about $270 USD). Switch Pro Controllers, meanwhile, are likely to be priced at £40 (about $43 USD). The console is expected to be region free, and will likely carry a comparable cost in every region to meet that end.

At that price point, the Switch would still be cheaper than the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One S, which could give it a leg up on the competition. However, two things are important to remember about this listing: one, aside from being a leak, it could also simply be an unfinalized placeholder price, and two, it does not factor in the cost of any accessories. What sort of additional peripherals will be available, and how much will they sell for? It’s anyone’s guess at this point.

Here’s hoping the Switch doesn’t have the same sorts of limitations as the Wii U’s Gamepad – the whole “one per console” thing was frustrating, not to mention the occasional drop in performance for certain multiplayer titles. Yes, I’m still mad about Hyrule Warriors .
