Nioh Won’t Be Out Until Next Year

Nioh Won’t Be Out Until Next Year

Team Ninja and Tecmo Koei have been going out of their way to hype up Nioh . There’ve been alpha and beta demos for the PlayStation 4 game, to help gather feedback, and it honestly seemed like a game that could have been released in 2016. I mean, there was a possibility to could have been out this year. But now, ahead of the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, a February 9, 2017 worldwide release has been confirmed.

In case you missed it, Nioh is that new Tecmo Koei fighting game that’s attempting to channel Dark Souls energy into a new kind of sword-based beat’em up. Players follow a samurai named William Adams as he travels around the Warring States period Japan. It’s filled with supernatural and exaggerated versions of historical figures like Hattori Hanzo, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Tachibana Muneshige.

But really, we should be happy Nioh exists at all. This is a game that was first announced in 2004 and supposed to appear in 2006. That it is finally being made is the greatest gift of all. A few more months wait is nothing compared to that six year period between 2006 and 2012 where we had no idea what was going on!
