No More 99 Cent PSN Movies

No More 99 Cent PSN Movies

None

Nothing in this life is free, and in this economy, nothing in this life is even cheap. So when the gods of finance saw the 99 cent movie deals on the PSN, they descended from the monetary heavens and said “No! I shall smite thee!”

Or, perhaps Sony just decided to discontinue the movie line. That’s also possible.

Either way, Sony has dropped the 99 cent rental area from the movie selection on PSN. Why? Well, lack of selection could be one problem. Personally, I never rented any of Sony’s 99 cent movies, but that could have just been a function of my peculiar taste in movies. (I could watch The Breakfast Club over and over and over again). Competition is the more likely explanation. 99 cents for an individual movie rental on a limited selection that rotates every week seems like a big ripoff when eight dollars gets you infinite movies and TV shows in a huge collection on Netflix.

So our cheap PSN movies are gone. But since Sony most likely decided to drop the movies because they were underused, I sincerely doubt this is actually affecting anyone all that much.
