Nobody’s Happy about the FIFA 16 Hacks

People playing FIFA 16 may have found themselves victims of a hit. Accounts were hacked, FIFA Coins, bought with real money, were stolen, characters created with said coins were deleted, and everyone is worse off for it. If you have an account, now’s a good time to go briefly check if it’s okay. We’ll be here waiting.

Your account might be fine, though, because it seems this round of FIFA 16 hacks was centered on personalities. Among the players hit are YouTubers like AnesonGib , W2S , MattHDGamer , Nick28T , Nepenthez , and Bateson87 . EA aided these people, and others, in reclaiming accounts, and replaced as much as possible. MattHDGamer told the BBC that EA added more security measures after the incident and replaced an in-form Ronaldo card with 3.4m FIFA Coins, but didn’t replace 20 other in-form character cards.

If you play any game where you’ve invested real cash into the experience, beyond the whole $60 price of admission, make sure you have incredibly strong passwords. Double check account authentication procedures. Maybe even change your password from time to time, to be safe. Don’t let what happened to the FIFA 16 players happen to you.
