Hyper Iria is a futuristic bounty-hunting platformer for the SNES. It is based on the 1994 anime, Iria: Zeiram the Animation. The game was released on October 13, 1995 in Japan only. It was developed by TamTam and published by Banpresto, owned by toy giant Bandai.
The game received overall positive reviews but never got an official English release or translation.
Hyper Iria Premise
Hyper Iria takes place sometime after the cyberpunk anime. In this game, Iria is still a rookie and takes various jobs to afford new additions to her arsenal, like grenades and new guns. Players can have up to three different guns and three different special equipment on their character when starting a level.
There are five total stages which players can choose in any order. The stages are a combination of traditional action combat and flying the ship. While there are only five, each one is essentially a large labyrinth full of any combination of mutants, robots, and even Zeiram itself.
Hyper Iria Main Character
In this retro shoot-’em-up, players control Iria, the main character from the anime and the live-action film Zeiram. In this game, Iria is just an apprentice for the Ghomvak Security & Investigations bounty hunting agency. Her hunter ID number is 9799-5. This sci-fi bounty hunter is from the Batabitajira region of planet Myce. Her brother and his partner, Bob, were killed by Zeiram, a powerful alien entity that can create new mutants. Bob’s consciousness was uploaded into a computer and he acts as her navigation system. Although she is a rookie apprentice, she has a strong natural ability and a keen mind.
Iria is considered a tomboy for her short, spiky hair and wearing traditional hair ornaments. She also wears ornate, futuristic white and blue armor. She wields several weapons throughout the game, including a laser pistol and a bazooka. Besides being able to have three different guns in her arsenal, she can also punch and kick enemies.
Hyper Iria Series
Although this side-scrolling action title is a standalone game, it set in the same universe and has the same main character as the anime, Iria: Zeiram the Animation and the live-action Zeiram film series. Hyper Iria Cheat Code FAQ
Does Hyper Iria have any cheat codes?
Yes! Hyper Iria has several cheat codes and passwords for players to try out. They can use them to restore their energy, get infinite energy, and more.
What are cheat codes?
Cheat codes are exploits that change the game’s behavior and give players an advantage. They may help clear a level, make the player completely invincible, or do some other action that wouldn’t take place without them.
They can also make the game more accessible and appealing to casual gamers or those who find its current state inaccessible.
What is a Pro Action Replay?
A Pro Action Replay is a cheat device that lets players input different cheats for multiple retro platforms. They manipulate the memory of the game code to allow cheats like more money or more saves.
What is a Game Genie?
A Game Genie is another cheat device, similar to the Pro Action Replay. They are available for retro platforms like the NES, SNES, original Game Boy, Genesis, and more.
Are the cheats permanent?
No, do not worry. The cheats last until you quit the game. This includes the ones used with the Pro Action Replay and Game Genie. So if you want to change things up again, you can next time you load it up.
What makes a cheat device different?
Since developers intentionally implement traditional cheat codes in their games, not every game has them. But that does not mean players don’t want them. Hence, cheat devices were born. Devices like the Game Genie or Pro Action Replay allow players to do things the developer did not intend, while the developers implement regular cheat codes.
