Over 260,000 Famicom Minis Sold in Japan

Over 260,000 Famicom Minis Sold in Japan

The NES Classic Edition is a success. It’s going for easily double and triple its value on eBay. But Nintendo still hasn’t told us how many were released in North America and Europe. We don’t know what the sales figures are like. Not so in Japan. We know exactly how well the Japanese Famicom Mini counterpart. Spoiler alert: it sold out everywhere there, too.

The Famicom Mini was released on November 10 in Japan. Between then and November 15, 262,961 of them were sold. To compare, 4Gamer.net says Sony sold 32,041 PlayStation 4s in that same period of time. It’s definitely a success.

As someone who ordered a Famicom Mini from Amazon Japan, I can attest to its quality. Like the NES Classic Edition, it’s a great little system. There’s a good array of games, it’s durable, and it looks fantastic. Let’s hope Nintendo keeps making more of these little guys!
