Overwatch Isn’t Getting Cross-Platform Play

Overwatch Isn’t Getting Cross-Platform Play

With Microsoft announcing that cross-platform initiative and Sony’s established cross-platform enthusiasm, you’d think a shooter like Overwatch would embrace that and be the first to allow PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players to all face off against one another. Well, it’s not, because Blizzard thinks it wouldn’t be fair.

To be exact, Blizzard’s Jeffrey Kaplan, Overwatch’ s Director, told Gamereactor , “That’s a no-go for us. The reason is that we think there’s an unfair advantage because of the type of game that it is. Mouse and keyboard gives a much higher precision, the return rate is much higher, so we just think it’d be unfair to pit those players against each other.” The developer wants everyone to have an equal experience against each other. And his reasoning does make sense, since you can be more precise with a mouse.

But hey, that shouldn’t keep everyone from having a good time next month. I’m sure we’ll all still enjoy Overwatch and its colorful characters on May 24, even without cross-platform functionality.
