Panzer General II Cheats & Cheat Codes for PC

Panzer General II is a 1997 strategic wargame developed and published by Strategic Simulations. Like many strategy games of the era, it was released exclusively on PC as the only platform able to handle its level of depth.

The game was met with critical acclaim upon its release, and Strategic Simulations was rewarded for its efforts with huge sales within a week of release. In-depth wargames were never big sellers among mainstream audiences, so the success of this release was a big deal.

Panzer General II Premise

Panzer General II takes place over the course of World War II, placing you in some of the greatest battles throughout history. At the start of the game, you must choose a side, fighting your way through the game’s hex map by moving units all over the place. The game features eight types of units: Infantry, Tank, Anti-Tank, Recon, Air Defense, Fighter, Artillery, and Bomber. Each of these has its own values assignment for its movement, line of sight, attack abilities, and defense. Units can be bought and upgraded by earning prestige points, which are earned by capturing objectives and securing victory on the battlefield.

While most of the battles featured in Panzer General II took place in real life, the game goes one step further, depicting hypothetical battles that could have happened if history had gone another way. These scenarios even drag the war out beyond 1945, creating interesting “what-if” scenarios for players to experience. However, these only happen when players manage exceptional victories consistently throughout the war.

Panzer General II Main Characters

As a wargame, Panzer General II never focuses on the plot and characters as much as other games. Instead, strategic gameplay is core to the experience, meaning that there are in fact no main characters to speak of in this game. It’s a shame, but it just isn’t that type of game, so it makes sense to some degree.

Panzer General II Titles in the Series

The General series developed and published by Strategic Simulations remains some of the most iconic wargames ever created. Many of its competitors struggled to keep up with its level of depth, and ultimately, it was the closure of the studio that resulted in it coming to an end.

While the series in recent years has had a few sporadic attempts at bringing it back, they haven’t exactly been massively successful. Even still, we’re sure that at some point, another attempt will be made to bring the classic strategy franchise back to its best.

Panzer General II Cheat Codes

Sadly, there isn’t a massive selection of cheats available in Panzer General II to make the game a little bit easier. Instead, you’ve got to exploit a bug in order to have anything resembling a cheat.

The cheat in question allows you to get unlimited prestige points. To do this, you must first clear an entire city of enemy units. Then, place just one of your units in that city. Cancel the movement of your units in the city, and you should then keep the prestige points gained as a result. Repeat this as much as you want to gain infinite prestige points in Panzer General II. Just a quick note, though. This exploit only works when your difficulty level is over 100%, so bear this in mind before trying it.

Unfortunately, this is the only exploit available in Panzer General II. Strategy games are usually ripe for cheat codes, but this title doesn’t follow suit in this regard.

Does Panzer General II Have Achievements?

No. The game has never been released on any platform that supports achievements, and as a result, they have never been added. Even recent re-releases on platforms such as GOG haven’t seen the modern feature introduced.

Why Are There No Panzer General II Cheats?

Truthfully, it’s hard to say. As we mentioned earlier, this is exactly the type of game most would expect to have plenty of cheat codes, yet that isn’t the case. It’s possible the developer wanted the game to be a realistic simulation of war strategy, and cheats would make this far too easy of an experience. Still, it’s a shame for those who wanted to change things up a little in-game.
